Lake Singkarak is the largest lake in West Sumatra. It is situated in two districts; Solok and Tanah Datar. Lake Singkarak is famous for its Bilih fish. This species only lives in this lake and cannot be cultivated outside its natural habitat.

Getting There

Lake Singkarak is located some 70 km from Padang and 20 km from the capital city of Solok. From Minangkabau international airport, you may take a rented car or a public minibus plying the Padang-Solok route and then take other transportation to the lake. This journey will take you passed the Sitinjau Laut area which is famous for its sharp curves and steep canyons.
